When Are You Leaving?

With the exception of this past Christmas, I haven't seen Miss M so excited.  One time per month I go away for several days for work related business.  Today I said to Miss M, "Well sweets, I have to go away for a few days and I miss you already."  Without any hesitation, a big smile appeared on her cute face.  She asked, "When are you leaving?"  I sensed that she already missed me too.  However, as usual, Dad was wrong.

I answered Miss M with, "I leave in a few days and will be back next week."  You would have thought I just bought her tickets to see Hannah Montana.  She started dancing around and screaming, "Yea, Yea, Yea!"

I was shocked.  I inquired, "What are you so happy about?"  She tells me that while I'm away, she gets to sleep with Mrs. HOH.

Mrs. HOH and I have made it a habit not to allow the girls to make it a habit to join us in bed on a regular basis.  They will occasionally join us and those are some long nights.  I find it amazing how two little girls can push me to the edge of a California King bed.

I can only hope she's equally excited to see me when I get back home.

It’s a Monopoly!

Our house comes equipped with three televisions.  One in the living room, one in the master bedroom, and one is Miss M’s room.  Two of them are plasmas and are equipped with DVR’s and the other is a Disney Princess one.

I’m a huge sports fan and I enjoy watching NFL games on a nice big, fat, flat screen.  The other day I wanted to watch my New England Patriots stomp all over the New York Giants.  Okay so they only won by three points.

I walk in the living room to watch the game, but Mrs. HOH was watching a recording of The Hills.  So I ask if she would mind recording the game for me.  She informs me that it would be impossible to do since she was currently recording a Real World show.  I think it’s a bunch of B.S., but decide to watch the game in our bedroom.  This flat screen is nice, but not quite like the one Mrs. HOH was watching her show on.

I turn the game on, but the DVR informs me that America’s Next Top Model is being recorded.  I think no problem.  I’ll just go to the other receiver.  Nope!  Newport Harbor is being recorded.

Good thing for me that Miss M and The Bean were putting a puzzle together.  The last option to watch the greatest football team in the history of the NFL was on a pink Disney Princess television.

We’ve had a DVR for several years and to be honest I have no idea how to operate it.  If I’m afforded the opportunity to watch one of my shows, I have to ask my Miss M, who just turned six, how to pause my show and how to use the fast forward button.  I’m clueless.

This monopoly even relates to the use of the Wii.  If I want to use the Wii, I’m stuck with being embarrassed because I have to sing songs from the High School Musical game.  The worst part is that it grades your performance.  When I receive a “C,” the raters are being way too generous.

I long for the day that I get the house to myself so I can play Wii alone and not have to watch a game of football on a pink television.

New Blog Name

I'm a rookie blogger.  After only two posts, I've changed my name from ThreeAgainstOne to So Cal Dad.  They only reason is the domain for the original name was already taken.  Therefore, So Cal Dad is it.

Rookie Mistake.

So Who Am I?

This is my second post to my new public blog.  After thinking about it, I should have made this my first post.  I've had a private blog for my family for about two years.  Since I read public blogs on a daily basis, I thought I would give it a try.  I don't consider myself the best writer, but I do enjoy writing.

I'm married to the Head Of Household (HOH) and together we have two beautiful daughters.  Miss M is 6 and The Bean is 2.5.  That's the reason for the name of this blog.  It really is Three Against One.  I will always be outnumbered.  We have four TV's in the house, but I still have to make reservations on one just to watch a game.  We live at the beach in Southern California.

I hope to be able to post here on a regular basis.  Until the next post, take a look at this video.  Miss M is on the lower far left and The Bean is the little one on the floor in the middle.

Little Help, Please!

Here it is almost one week since Christmas day and I can't figure out how to set up two of my favorite gifts.  The girls were given the Wii, but little do they know that it really belongs to Dad.  We were told , "It's so easy.  You'll be playing in 10 minutes."  Well, it been 125 hours and no luck.  On the positive side, maybe the girls will forget they have it and I get keep it for myself.

Another gift I was given was a printer, which was long overdue.  I now want another version, so it too is still in the box.

I need a lot of help.

In the meantime, the girls have had no problem with their new pink convertible Barbie car, which comes equipped with a very loud stereo, horn, and can be driven at 5 mph.  Or they can play their new Whack-A-Mole game.  Or they can ride around on the new Inch Worm.  My point here is that they are all loud in their own right.  No peace to bring in the New Year.

I have been criticized for giving the HOH a book called, Bright Lights, Big Ass.  I had to tell repeatedly tell everyone that it's only a title of a book and it doesn't refer to the HOH.

Happy New Year to everyone!
